To our pet parents and livestock producers,
Amid recent developments with COVID19 (the new novel human Coronavirus) we would like to answer a few questions you may have concerning the virus and your pets and livestock.
Coronavirus is a common virus in animals. Dogs, cats and livestock are susceptible to their own specific coronaviruses. However, these are not the same viruses as the COVID19 virus currently infecting the human population. To date there is no evidence that pets and livestock can spread the virus to other animals or humans. The CDC and AVMA will update any information as it arises.
We are fully aware of the COVID19 crisis and the hardships it can/is having on our clients and staff. The concern is human to human transmission. The greatest risk for transmission is through air-borne particles and surface contact. As a healthcare facility we have always followed rigorous sanitation procedures. We routinely wash our hands and disinfect surfaces. We are implementing additional cleaning measures of all surfaces including counters, chairs, door handles, clip boards, credit card machines, etc. In following with the CDC guidelines regarding sick staff members, we require them to not report to work until they are symptom free. We ask that you reschedule your appointment if you are experiencing any upper respiratory clinical signs (cough, trouble breathing, sneezing, fever). If you are ill or think you might be becoming ill, please do not enter our facility. Call us and we will make a plan to safely treat your pet or get them the medicine or food they might need. We will provide options that will be safe for all.
With that being said, we want you to know we are committed to providing our clients and patients with the utmost in quality and compassionate care in these uncertain times. In order to ease any fears you may have, we are offering the following service (some new, some not)
- Home delivery of all medications and food for those clients that are in the high-risk categories.
- Home pickup and delivery of pets in need of veterinary care.
- For those that are not aware, our online pharmacy is available for food and medications that may be needed.
- As always, we will see “drop off” patients and if you prefer, we will be glad to come to your vehicle and take your pet inside for the treatment it may need.
- In order to prevent congestion in our waiting room, we are asking that you call in your prescription refills so that it will be ready when you arrive.
If you are in one of the high-risk categories (over 65, diabetes, high blood pressure, immunocompromised, undergoing chemotherapy, had an organ transplant or have young children or a baby we are offering nontraditional appointments. Just call or email the clinic and we will be glad to meet your needs or situation.
